StarTech Com 10Gbps Single Bay Dock SATA Review

First of all, the hard drive connected to this Startech hard drive docking station has always been the limiting factor in transfer speeds as long as it is connected to a USB 3.1 port. I like having the power button on top of the front dock and it's very stable even when using a heavy hard drive. I don't find it easier to eject the hard drive from the slot than not to use it.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, true USB 3.1 Gen 2 data transfer speeds. It's well built and comes with five different plugs for different parts of the world. My only gripe is that it only comes with a Type A USB cable. It would be nice if they also included a Type-C cable. I had a previous model of this fan dock but it was only USB 2.0 and I seem to have had major problems with my new PC which all had USB 3.1 ports. . I recently purchased several USB 3.1 docking stations from Amazon: two of this model, a BlacX model and a couple of replacement devices. All three devices run on tested drives up to 8.0 TB.
