I should have read more about it before I got it. I bought it so I can connect my laptop to a larger monitor when working from home. I didn't know that you have to install the software before it actually works. Since my laptop is used for work, I can't download the software at the moment. So I only use it for other "USB" connections - it acts like a "USB hub". I still connect all my cables directly to my laptop so I can use my home monitor.

I love how compact it is and how it works with any Windows computer. My biggest complaint is that if you run 2 monitors across it and try to run a wireless keyboard and mouse across it, the keyboard and mouse start to lag. I had to connect them directly to the computer. This only causes a problem when I change computers and forget to remove the USB stick.

This product is a godsend for desktop laptop replacement. I use msi gs60 ghost pro as a laptop and gaming pc. I need to connect a keyboard, mouse, HDMI monitor, gigabit ethernet and charge my phone. With this dock, I can do all of that. Windows picks up and installs drivers very quickly. It was a great alternative to the Lenovo docking stations we used. They're generally cheaper, and StarTech does a great job of helping riders. We've used multiple versions with no problems. The only thing I would recommend is to go to the StarTech website to get the latest drivers before installing, as they are frequently updated to fix problems caused by Microsoft updates. (This is an MS issue, not a StarTech issue.)

It said it would work for multiple monitors, unfortunately it doesn't. I had to buy a monitor adapter because the connector, whatever it was called, was too big for my Dell screens, but then it only fits one monitor. So now I had to spend even more stupid money for another adapter that will be plug and play with the first adapter. Mad I spent $94 on this and have to "fix" it. I work with spreadsheets and promotional materials all day. I use 2 large monitors every day plus my laptop monitor all day. Thankfully, after purchasing this docking station, I can now do that in my home office. I can also use the front USB ports to charge my cell phone and Bluetooth speakers.

Unfortunately, if you use the VGA and DVI connectors at the same time to support two monitors, the same content will be rendered on both monitors, not individually. This dock does a good job. I had never used a USB dock before so I didn't know what to expect. Two external monitors are connected to it, so I can have a total of three screens. I just installed my new dock and can't get enough of it! This product allows me to run multiple monitors from a laptop that doesn't have a "dock port" or multiple video outputs. Although there are 3 video outputs (1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 VGA), only two video signals are supported - either 2 "digital" signals or 1 VGA and one digital signal. These are cheap and nice to have in any office, but installing them can be a nightmare for even a seasoned IT pro. The drivers and software for this dock only install correctly about 75% of the time, in my experience I have done this dozens of times in my company. If it works, then it's fine. But if it doesn't, it may take 3-4 reinstalls before it works. Windows 10 can have issues as well, probably worth it for a good price, but be aware of some potential issues.

So far this docking station has worked great. I couldn't find any of these basic docking stations for my HP so I've been looking for a long time and I'm glad I found these. This requires you to plug in a power cord, but I just bought an extra cable for this and my setup is as simple as plugging in the power cord and USB. nothing bad.
