Glitchy (but it's not clear if the card or the computer is to blame)

I have an old HP xw9400 workstation with no USB3 ports. I bought this card to stock up and also because it was recommended by a colleague who tried it on an HP DL380 server. But there seems to be an incompatibility between this card and the above workstation: I only have 3 out of 4 ports that answer. There were three free PCIe slots available, so I tried other slots with no improvement. Assuming the card was defective, I reported it to Revain and they sent me a second card, worse: only two out…

Pros
  • Stable test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Works for Oculus Rift at the expense of bandwidth

Like many others, I bought this separate USB controller card for my Oculus Rift to hopefully fix USB errors and system overload crashes. Well I'm happy to report that it worked for a fee. I installed it in my PCIe x4 slot first, hoping it would work there, and plugged all 3 sensors and an Oculus headset into it. However, in testing, PCIe X4 wasn't enough to run the Oculus headset. It kept disconnecting/falling and reconnecting. I had no choice but to try the unused PCIe x16 slot above it…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful

Streaming happiness! No more bandwidth issues with USB cameras.

If you use more than one webcam in OBS to stream, you're probably experiencing black box syndrome. The camera worked, you switch to another camera and then back. Just a black box instead of an image. What nobody likes to tell you is that this symptom (barring other issues) usually means that your cameras are using too much bandwidth for the USB connection. Switching ports can help if the port is on a different controller. If not, you will always have problems with the camera. This card solves…

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • There are disadvantages

Works great. No drivers need to be installed. Fully compatible with Win 10 and Oculus Rift driver. Created and problem for me because it uses one PCI-e X4 slot and disables 4 PCI-E X1 slots. There's only so much bandwidth to go around. You get 4 dedicated controllers, but I think the 4-port Fresco (KTU3FR-4P) sold here is acceptable and works great with the Rift for 1/3 the price. If you want the best, assume you can afford to trade in your PCI Express x1 slots. Not sure if all MOBOs do this…

Pros
  • Complete set
Cons
  • Annoying

Maybe a better USB stick?

I was trying very hard to get my VR headset (Oculus Rift S) to work on my old computer (2008 Gigabyte EP45-UD3R, Intel Quad Core 3GHz, GTX 980, 8 GB RAM) which only has USB2. I followed the recommendations of various websites and tried 4 or 5 different USB sticks. It's the only one that almost worked. Everyone else, even an Inatek card with its own power connector, always left the VR headset with USB issues like "Insufficient USB bandwidth" or "Cannot track headset" error messages. With this…

Pros
  • Always liked it
Cons
  • I won't say anything
