I've bought two of these in the last few months. One of them works great. The other doesn't work. The one that doesn't work properly has video playback problems. The problem is that the screen is smudged with blue pixel video noise. It also periodically loses sync. Update: I don't know why all the reviews about this device are so good. Maybe people don't come back and revise over time. I've been using this for a few months now to run a dual monitor setup, keyboard, mouse and USB 3 hub (including additional peripherals and microphone) between 4 PCs including my personal and mine work, share computers. I literally had zero problems. It's expensive, but every cheaper KVM switch I've used has become unbearable or stopped working after a month or two. If you have a serious multi-machine setup and need a no-nonsense, no-nonsense KVM switch, this guy is for you.

The problem is getting worse. Lots of troubleshooting to rule out any other possibility. Same problem with wired and USB keyboards (which work great when connected to other KVMs and directly to laptops). Seems to be on the input side as the problem occurs on both outputs. The problem is also intermittent: it can function normally for several days and then skip three out of four keystrokes for several days.

I used to buy KVM switches and never had anything that worked as if it was connected to a real computer. There is always a problem with an external device of one type or another. StarTech devices have a reputation for superior quality but are more expensive than devices from other brands. I ended up spending the extra money on StarTech and all I can say is that it's the most worth the extra cost. The case, the quality, the performance is far better than anything I've had.
