Easy installation and high performance

My computer didn't have a built in port for a high speed USB connection which, thanks to the USB Consortium, has so many names it makes me dizzy trying to remember them all ( USB 3.1 Gen 2 , SuperSpeed USB 10 Gbps, Superspeed Plus USB, Enhanced SuperSpeed, SuperSpeed+, .). I wanted to be able to use the latest USB devices at the currently highest 3.1 speed (10 Gbps instead of 5 Gbps), so the answer was to add more ports with a PCIe card. The card looks well made and includes a heat sink. to…

works with Ximea cameras

Really has 2 channels, works with two Ximea XiC cameras with full bandwidth. Cheaper than the Flir products that Ximea sells.

Instantly recognized as Windows 10 + 2 year warranty

We were blown away trying to choose from other cheaper models that do the same thing. After some research [outside of Revain] with a google search. that this StarTech model is among the top 3 brands in this category. According to independent website Tech Guru. We were hesitant to order other cheaper brands after reading many 1 star verified customer reviews stating that their cheaper [non-StarTech] model had failed after only a few months of use. This StarTech model appears to be very well…

Bought for a gaming mouse polling rate

I snagged this PCI-E USB port expander as I was able to get my new mouse's polling rate up to around 3000Hz when it was supposed to hit 8000Hz! After installing this card, install the card drivers and then reinstall the mouse drivers. I'm definitely getting a higher poll rate! However, now it only hangs at a frequency of 4300-4400Hz. So still better than before (at 3000Hz). But I think anything over 1000Hz is still better than what I'm used to. But I'm really even more curious as to how the…

Great way to breathe life into an aging PC

I installed this on my workstation Z87 motherboard with Windows 10 and it worked great right out of the box without installing a driver. I ended up going to the Startech website and downloaded the latest driver, just in case. Work perfectly with very high transmission speed. Great upgrade and an easy way to breathe life into my aging computer. Highly recommended!

Can be finicky after work but reliable

Card feels solid and works great. There was a small issue with it and the Megaraid card played well, resulting in the Intel Server Board not being posted. A few hours of troubleshooting the bios settings and now it's working. Supported natively in the latest version of Debian.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • is confusing

I would like to try it out

Unfortunately the required slot is missing on all my computers. I wanted to try it, but unfortunately I couldn't even find a suitable PCIe slot. ***Update, so I ended up in a PCIe expansion slot (the area where you put your graphics card). I ended up discovering this from a well explained YouTube video. It didn't make sense at first until I saw the video. Learned something new today.
