light goes far!

We bought this lantern to be able to watch our dogs outside at night. Our property is about 600 feet long and our dogs are bright. This light is absolutely bright enough at 600 feet to see the dogs. It's also very cool to see deer on the premises. The only negative I can say about the light is that the handle is a bit short. I'm a woman of average height and the grip even seems a little short to me. Despite this, the flashlight doesn't feel heavy in my hand and there's no loss of functionality…

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • you could have chosen a newer model

Even better than I hoped

I live in Minnesota and love watching the coyotes that visit our property. I hear them howling at night and usually find their sleeping quarters by lighting them up with a decent flashlight and waiting to catch the eerie reflection of their eyes. But my typical 1000 lumen big name flashlights (including the Streamlight brand) don't reach the required distance. The area is about 500-550 meters from our house. So I bought this Streamlight Waypoint 300 hoping to light up the area at that distance.

First let me say this is an amazing light. Very well built

This flashlight was purchased in March 2012. First let me say this is an amazing flashlight. Very well built. Excellent visibility at night. I have enough for 6-8 months of work from one set of batteries. I use this light multiple times a day and the rest of my family always grabs some. (dark corners in closets, poorly lit areas in a barn, etc.) We live in a country of bears (as well as coyotes, bobcats, foxes, and others). When my dogs bark at night, I use this light outside. Something went…

Sturdy construction with very bright light beam

I have a replaceable C battery version with 12v power cord primarily for use on my boat. Impressive build quality - solid but not heavy. Using my cheap light meter, I measured 95,000 candelas of center beam output using a 12V power cord, C-type alkaline batteries, or AA lithium batteries (with C-cell adapters). The manufacturer's specification of 100,000 is certainly appropriate. I measured 7200 vs 7900 on the low end. It draws 2 amps from the internal battery. This is a pretty serious drain on

Reliable for over 7 years

We bought two of these lights in 2013 and have been very happy with their performance ever since. We originally bought them to walk our dog at night in an area that didn't have streetlights and lots of copperheads. They did what we needed and more, for example they could spot owls in very tall trees. The light is extremely bright and focused, which is what we wanted, rather than illuminating a large area around us like a flashlight, as we're more interested in what's ahead. The ability to…
