I really like the protective cover over the heating element! My peacock eel loves to lie on it. The temperature corresponds to the readings of another thermometer in the aquarium! So far, so good.

I bought two of these for turtle shells and both broke, beware the temperature went up 10 degrees and you can't adjust it, had to replace both after only a few months of use.

Excellent heater for our turtle. She loves lying on it and it won't burn her. Very accurate. The only downside to this is that the heater itself is very thin glass and when you take it apart to clean it (we have very hard water) if you just smack it on the sink it shatters. I'm just not going to take it apart and clean it with a soft toothbrush. But the heater is great!

My 75 gallon aquarium got to 69 degrees after my old heater failed. It only took 2 days to get it to 81. I increased it a few degrees a few times a day. It probably could have gotten him back to 81 a lot quicker, but I didn't want to put my fish in it. The product is well made and easy to use. I will update my review if anything changes. It works great so far.

Not only is the product NOT NEW as expected, it doesn't work and now I have $200 and a few bucks of fish that need to survive in cold water until I can Get a replacement after spending a lot on THIS one! *The update took a day and a half to fix itself and work, so I'll keep it, but I'm keeping the rating at 1 star because it took a long time to work and because it clearly isn't new and I paid a lot of money to get a used item.

Woke up, everything in the tank is dead. Cleaned up immediately, thought ammonia crash or something. I disassembled the tank and did a lot of research. Started refueling again with the SAME heater. This product has been used a total of about 5 weeks, is there a box longer than this and after only five weeks of use I get error code 10 or something and I can't reset it, if I do this immediately the code comes off again with all the metal underneath that is red hot and glowing and looks awful to order this no doubt not in my money or ship me the product I woke up. Instead of an aquarium, I used 20 gallon semi-thaw drums in which hardy water lilies and water lotus bulbs overwinter. After the temperature dropped to zero and below zero, a few inches of ice formed on the surface of the water, even in the garage where the half barrels are stored. The 800w version of this heater that I use in my pond has many advantages. It couldn't be easier to use, the external digital thermometer is accurate and the heat pipe design makes it safe for pond residents while reducing the chance of accidental breakage.
