I needed this card to import files/videos from my early 2000's Panasonic Mini DV camcorder to my computer in 2020. The camera only seems to support FireWire for storing digital footage, and of course neither my Windows 10 PC nor my laptop had a FireWire port. As other reviewers have said about this and many other FireWire cards, if your OS is Windows 10 you typically get either a 1 or 5. FireWire cards usually work well on older versions of Windows, but your Windows 10 experience will not be stable. Success depends not only on Windows 10 and a properly installed legacy driver, but also on the build of your particular computer. This card (at least the one I received) did not fit in my case. When installed in a PCIe slot, the bracket was misaligned. I have confirmed that the card is not manufactured correctly by comparing it to my graphics card. Compared to the graphics card, the contacts on this board were further apart relative to the "top" of the bar. As a result, I could not pin the card properly. I tried setting it up to stay in place but as you can imagine it didn't work.

Job to digitize old videos. It was easy to install and worked for a few days. However, the cable connection was so weak that if I ever moved the camera, my software would lose contact with my camcorder. Sometimes it even disconnected from the card itself. Received this to transfer my old DV tapes to my computer using the SCLive software. It works, although only one of the two 6-pin ports seems to be responding. This might have more to do with the outdated firewire driver I downloaded than the hardware itself, who knows. I only have one firewire device so I don't care. At first I had a lot of transmission glitches, but I bought another firewire cable from a local store (Micro Connectors brand) and that seems to have erased the signal.
