Great price Thermometer and timer

Well known company and great price. This is an accurate and very easy to read thermometer and you get two of them to download.

  • New
Cons
  • Very expensive

A BIT BIG BUT OK

A little big for my little freak, that's ok because they seem to be accurate. Easy to read. It would be nice if it was hung from a pivot rather than a fixed position.

Pros
  • Fits a lot
Cons

Inaccurate: thermometers and timers

Received two of these, one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Each is about 4 degrees above actual temperature. I have another in my freezer from a different brand and they will give very different readings.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Damaged

Adjusting a chain of a needle

This thermometer is not accurate, but once you understand how crooked the needle is on the scale, you can adjust that value in your head to determine the actual temperature. I've found that when a target temperature is set, my fridge will actually vary +/- 5 degrees Fahrenheit to try to maintain that target temperature. I'm assuming this is an energy saving: it subcools to 5 degrees Fahrenheit below target and stops cooling until it's 5 degrees Fahrenheit above target.

Pros
  • Everything is normal!
Cons
  • Update available

Eh - it's ok - three different gauges read three different temperatures

I ordered three of these gauges and none of them read the same temperature. They're in the range of about 5 degrees, though, so if you want something more precise, they work well. It looks like the previous reviews as accurate they were over 5 years old - maybe the ones they are doing now are done differently. Too bad there's no way to calibrate these things so you can get them working properly. about buying them.

  • Handsfree

Good for home use but not for your science project

I bought two of these Taylor thermometers and put them in the freezer. As other reviewers have pointed out, they are not precise tools. An hour later they showed two different temperatures: -8° and -10°. I tested them in another fridge and they are consistently 2° apart. Don't buy them if you want an accurate scientific instrument. A restaurant owner or chef with thousands of dollars worth of meat in the fridge would love to have a more accurate thermometer connected to their smartphone. That's

Temperature calibration needs checking

After reading about temperature changes with these thermometers, I tested them in my fridge/freezer. I've measured the actual fridge/freezer temperature using a wire thermometer that I've previously tested with calibrated lab equipment, so I'm pretty sure the actual temperature is accurate enough. After 2 hours in a 37°F refrigerator, one of these thermometers read 38°F (great) while the other read 42°F (not very good). Moved the higher thermometer to the freezer at 11°F. After 3 hours in the…
