Nice flat base for accessories

For use with Tram 1181 in my attic connected to a repeater and a Motorola CDM series flat duplexer. My SWR is 1.1/1. The distance through the heavily insulated roof is 7 miles and it's only a few feet off the ground. Without that airbase, my signal was much weaker. I recommend it if you have an extra antenna and want to set up a base station. Just make sure you tighten all the screws properly for best results.

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Security

Excellent way to convert an extra cellular antenna into a base station

Should I buy a cellular antenna to use as a base station antenna? Probably no. But if you have an unused one, this is a great way to use it. Completely trivial handling, unscrew the NMO antenna, screw on the coaxial cable, attach the loop to the mast. I used to make them out of cardboard and such, but to be honest it doesn't cost much more, is much stronger and doesn't rust.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other options

Groundplane for Portable Audio & Video

It's nice that there is something to add/help in the groundplane. However, wire set screws are not always where they should be in every hole. some are screwed up; some are almost over; and some are not because they are absent. I wanted to return the order because you need set screws. Anyway, while packing for return I found a tiny set screw in a plastic bag. could easily be lost, so be careful because the people who entered them don't.

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Zero

Good product, needs a simple DIY upgrade.

I used this on a 102 inch whip antenna to turn it into a base antenna. The normal polished radials didn't fit me at all. However, this created more room for several 109 inch pieces of copper wire to be attached to create a better ground plane. My advice: ditch the standard ground wires that come with the kit and go to Home Depot and buy some copper wire that fits the holes and tighten it down. The SWR has been increased from 3.3 to 1.1 by adding 109 inch copper wires. All in all, a good product

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Required hardware is missing

This is the second device I have bought. The first unit came with "special" hex set screws to attach the radials to the bracket. The second unit came with a hex key but no set screws. No problem - just go to the hardware store and buy four set screws - right? NOT CORRECT. The thread pattern is not standard. It appears to be 5/32 in diameter with very fine threads. Unfortunately there are hexagon socket set screws with a uniform pitch not with 5/32, but only with 1/8 and 6/32 diameter. The only…

Works well but tiny adjustment screws

I wasn't sure if the length and angle of the radials would work but after everything was assembled and installed on a 15ft telescoping mast with my mobile antenna , was satisfied with the result. I have used it with both Icom IC-T70A and IC-7000 and have been satisfied. It has also withstood gale force winds of 80 km/h, which surprised me. But I don't recommend it. As mentioned, tiny set screws can be an issue and we drilled an extra hole in the bracket to attach it to the mast. My only concern

Pros
  • Best in niche
Cons
  • Not sure

Tram Needs Attention

Given all the feedback about the missing screws, do you think they've solved this issue? NO! I had to return the first purchase to get a full set of screws, contacting this seller is difficult to say the least. The antenna works perfectly, no problems, excellent SWR values. Despite the 'free returns', a lot of time is spent back-ordering the product and going to the UPS store to return the product. Tram doesn't seem to care about shipping costs or customer satisfaction. With that in mind, I…

It does what it's supposed to do

This is a basic grounding kit. It is optimized for VHF and higher frequencies. I only saw two of the adjusting screws when I opened the packaging. Uh oh Turns out the two missing were in holes that already had set screws in them. The holes are so deep that you can screw in two grub screws and not notice it. So check all four set screw holes before complaining to the manager. So if you intend to use this below FM, this isn't for you. 2 meters, 220MHz, 440 and above you will succeed. For bands…
