Requires some work to assemble

A little difficult to assemble. I was able to find that out easily by reading other reviews. At first it looks like the stand is too big to fit in the hole in the base. It took a few good hits with a rubber mallet (a regular hammer will do) to get it in place. It is unlikely that he will ever return. Heavy enough to hold the thread in place. does what it says

The centering pin (threaded spindle) does not fit.

This is a sturdy stand. In addition to the central metal pin (threaded spindle), they sent us the wrong size package! It doesn't even come close to fitting into the center hole that was supposed to hold the cone. My husband is currently trying to drill a wider hole in the base so it's not a waste of time. What a shame considering it's the only coaster I could find that didn't split the arm in two. upset.

Worth every penny! for sewing

I use this to hold the thread vertical for my home sewing machine. This helps a lot with tension problems and when using a twin needle. My built in spool pin is level and this makes some threads difficult to work with. The item was bought used but in perfect condition, the packaging was sealed with tape. The locking screw doesn't fit anywhere, but everything works as it should. I just used a small rubber grommet to hold the threaded rod in place. Very heavy, cast iron, does not tip or move…

Be mechanically inclined

If anyone like me don't get frustrated when you get this tool, don't expect to find a loose screw in the box or expect a silver one metal threaded rod. pieces for the screw in the middle hole, they don't apply! First you'll need a hammer to pound the metal lead screw into the hole so it fits snugly as the instructions say, but don't include the specific details needed to start the mechanism. The screw itself is in a real heavy metal base they call a (set screw) for which you need a hex wrench…
