A whole pack of 50 pieces is bad!

I have recorded music on recordable 80 minute blanks for many years and have had only a few bad batches of blanks. This time I bought two Verbatim 50 packs. So far one package has been fine, but all the discs I've tried burning from another package have been bad. It fails for a number of reasons and I've tried another brand with the same music mixes and they worked fine so obviously I have a bad batch. Next time I will not buy this brand again.

Burn real slow, I'm chasing rabbits.

Often people complain that a drive is bad when it isn't. If you are burning a CD or other optical media, burn it as soon as possible for the best results. Windows Media Player gives you these options, or if you prefer ImgBurn, which is open source software that works great and is easy to understand. There are no complaints about these discs. I had an acute problem, but switched to a different machine. This told me that it wasn't a drive, it was a specific drive. Friendly advice only. take it or

Pros
  • Amazing
Cons
  • Crumpled

I bought these thinking they would be great for PS1 backups because of the Verbatim brand. I didn't know that Verbatim allowed several manufacturers to make discs for them. One of them is CMC Magnetics, who made these horrible CDs, including the ones for Memorex. None of the PS1 backups I tried to burn worked. Hard drives are garbage. Avoid them at all costs. You need Verbatim AZO CD-Rs from Mitsubishi Chemicals and they work great.

Pros
  • Large selection

  • Clarity

Let's release a mixtape! But it's not mine!

I've just looked at a stack of 100 Verbatim CDs and not a single bad CD! I just ordered 100 more! I have an extensive CD collection. I say COMPREHENSIVE. I do a lot of BEST OF compilations, MIXes and burn copies of my CD collection for use in the car because car players eat CDs like Jeffrey Dahmer eats fingers and toes. I go through many of these. And they're cheap, so I toss them around like a frisbee. I have been using Verbatims for many years now. They sound fantastic and really burn outโ€ฆ

Good quality and worth the price!

I've been buying the Verbatim brand for about three years now. I usually buy them from physical stores, but I needed the CD cases and since I only had a few CDs I decided to grab this Verbatim pack while I was busy. I have used discs from several different brands but keep coming back to the Verbatim brand. For other brands, at least one disc in three was not recorded. When I first used Verbatim discs I hesitated, thinking I would throw away at least half of them like I have to do with otherโ€ฆ

Most discs don't work! Poorly made!

None of these discs have been properly burned. The two end up reading, but each ends up with a broken song that won't play. All others were burned incorrectly and won't play at all. I've already done about 6 discs so it's terrible. Our computer or recorder is fine as it worked great with some old discs of different brands that we found at home. Just these slices. Don't let the overall good rating of these discs fool you. I've spent over $20 on these drives and they won't work. This companyโ€ฆ

The reason for the return is different from other reviews.

I bought these CDs and was wondering what could be so special about a generic brand CD blank? I found out...but was surprised. I've read that people have had problems with the CD just not working. but here is an explanation why it didn't work for me. When I put the CD in the computer to start recording, the spinning CD started making a very loud grinding noise. I've never heard of it and thought my old Macbook might finally be in its final (burning) phase. However, I quickly pulled out the CDโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

I used to have bad luck with Verbatim CDr. But I decided to give it another try because of the low price. Unfortunately, this is another spindle from Verbatim. The first 3 above did not burn. Update: The whole spindle is now in the trash. It took me months to try and sometimes I managed to burn one of them. But they won't play properly. I recently bought half a spindle of old Goodwill Memorex CDs. I cleaned up the sticky stuff, threw away the hopelessly sticky stuff, and threw out some of theโ€ฆ
