This is my second unit. Be sure to dry the sensors. My first worked as expected. I haven't used it for over 6 months and found that I didn't dry the sensors I think. I've actually had the opportunity to compare this side by side with a stationary unit on a charter boat and the comparison was really accurate.

Also in the description it says that the battery life is about 4 hours. I tried it in the pond, played with the gain, it worked. At the weekend we will try to spot on the ice. Probably not ideal for what we're going to use it for, if you have the cash. Cough for a real ice cold Vexilar, but if you're on a budget this should work. The pond is mostly ice and works well with a water temperature of 33°C. Can't wait to use it for shore fishing this summer!

This fish finder is amazing. The bottom detail is excellent, the depth is within 1ft. If you've never used a fish finder before, check out the tutorial videos on YouTube. I really wish it had some sort of display function (like the photo Revain listed for it) but for the price it gets the job done.
