Good system but be careful

This is my first review after using Ooma for about 3 weeks. I will update if necessary. My early rating would be 4.5 stars. I'm a cool grader! I bought a device - an Ooma Telo device PLUS a wireless Linx device. You need Linx if you want to connect multiple phone systems. In my case I have a system with 3 handsets and another separate phone. My purchase of the service - I chose the Premier service from the start because I liked the extra features. Still cheaper than my old phone company. Good /

Very competent telephone service, probably no longer needed

I was one of the first to use the first Ooma system and had a group of little scouts around the house to connect to cordless telephone base units. When I bought the original Ooma, I was paying Verizon $130 a month for home phone service, so my savings on moving were immediate. Ooma worked pretty well initially, but the devices got old pretty quickly and we often found them disconnecting from the line with all the buttons glowing red (which is bad). I've been working on it for a while but just…

LOVE this device and the VoIP service

LOVE this product and what it has to offer. I have recommended it to others. See Pros and Cons for details. I love the commercial diversity it encourages, as many ISPs and TV/cable content providers have tried to put the competition out of business with packages that include a VoIP phone. They then outbid and charge an abandonment fee (in the microscopic seal of a contract) to keep you past the teaser bids. Then they hold you by the keg when your service gets in trouble because you have a…

Pros
  • Happy so far
Cons
  • It makes me angry

I got rid of my internet and voice package from my local cable provider and switched to an internet only service to use this VoIP device. The savings are up to $400 a year so how can I ignore that. Except that I ignored it for so long. The score isn't perfect because Ooma Tech Support "shot from the hip" with their solutions. I'm a technologist, so I knew what was going on. I just needed confirmation that they knew the solution to my problems. Long story short, I had to replace my old firewall.

Pros
  • Pretty package

  • I don't remember
