great device for the price, but isn't it

Apart from the fact that the Z-axis moves after a while due to vibrations, this little bug is really great. It's trivially easy to get it back in alignment, but it's not necessary. NOTE: The reviewers who say the focus changes as the table is raised and lowered clearly didn't read the instructions. With the right adjustment, no matter how much you raise and lower the table, the focus stays right where the bit hits the wood. My own complaint is that this focus changes over time, but it has…

Read the instructions.

Reviews here show that some people didn't read the instructions or somehow received the product without packaging. The mounting pins can be removed and moved to a different set of holes if you wish to mount them on a smaller press with a 2" post or less. The supplied large hose clamp can be extended and fitted until it can be pulled off. very easy. It's durable and a little bigger than I thought it would be. It's very easy to set up and another reviewer posted a very efficient sizing technique…

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Empty

The mounting plate has curves for two speakers (not sure which) but didn't match mine. Every time I tried to tighten the clamp the block would move down the front (also partly because the clamp pins were set wider than my speaker. Put it back in the box to go back (but I really didn't want to ) and then I figured if I was going to install a curved stabilizer bar for my column and between the pins. So I cut out a piece of 1/2" ply to fit my curve and slid a bit between the column and the clamp…

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Not reliable

Great, but with a drawback.

The Wixey Laser Drill works very well. I had no problem installing or adjusting it to achieve a reproducible accuracy of about 1/32 inch. I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4 if there hadn't been an inconvenience. I kept forgetting to turn it off and charge the batteries. I finally solved this problem by replacing the two AA batteries with an AC-DC to 3V adapter. To do this I had to install a suitable socket on the back of the battery compartment and move some wires around (see photo)…

Pros
  • Annual Trial
Cons
  • Clarity

Might be a contender

Seen on about 5 different sites, all with about 90 percent positive results. Fir is about the same price. So I ordered from Amazon Business Prime with free shipping for my 78 year old father who always had a hard time preparing detailed drill holes. He was the elite engineer in the office for decades, but he famously lacked the mechanics. I advised him to read the instructions based on the reviews. He installed it on his million year old bench drill in minutes and experimented with tricks etc…

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Quality
