🔨 Wood Trick Adult Wooden Model Kit Review

This is a great, durable set and a lot of fun to build. I'm no stranger to these wooden sets having assembled quite a few, they are of good quality and have well illustrated instructions. You must follow these to the smallest detail so that the finished product runs smoothly. The only downside I don't like is having to work with toothpicks! I'm serious! Wouldn't very thin metal shafts/axles work better?

Not as good as Ugear or Rokr. But good. Slowly I needed 12 hours. The instructions are often quite opaque. Just as many "toothpicks” have to be smeared and used and cut, which was sometimes difficult. Also after disassembling the locking mechanism to check if the gears are installed correctly? It does not lock and opens at any time. That made me angry. Too expensive / something to gain, something to lose. It's nice when finished, too bad it doesn't block. 3 stars for everything.

If you just want to see and show you can buy it. But if you want to use it as a coin bank, NEVER buy it. The locking knob does not line up with the internal gear when you turn it. For example, if I set the pass to 715, I set the inner circle column to 876, following the instructions exactly. Then I turn the knob counterclockwise 3 turns and the third turn, set the first number to 7, the first gear is not in the right position to open. So if you lock it, you can't open it again.

I have to say I only got about 3/4 of the way. But so far it has been a lot of fun to do with my 12 year old daughter. I wouldn't say it's "easy to put together" but I think it belongs as it's a puzzle of sorts. Some parts are a bit difficult to pull out, but overall it's been fun and looks really cool so far. It's a thin wood after all as far as "durability" goes, but I don't think it's meant to hold family heirlooms. If your kid loves Lego as much as I do, this is definitely a great next…

Overall fun to build. I was excited to create a functional safe with a combination lock. It was tedious to build but worth it - until you get to the end and the combo doesn't work. In fact, the design has disadvantages since the shaft cannot actuate the first 2 locks. It only activates the third, which no longer works. Although the quality can't match ROKR, it's still on par with all other brands and I had a great time. The instructions were clear and I only made a few small mistakes (mainly because I didn't pay attention to some details and was painlessly corrected). The overall build was well thought out and I enjoyed watching the gears turn. However! If you are an adult buying this for your child, ALWAYS supervise/help with the build! What a huge waste of time and money. I got to step 60 without damaging a single part, then one broke and there are no replacements in the spares so now I have an expensive paperweight that I can't do anything with. I would recommend using a different brand. . It says no tools are needed, but you will definitely need a rubber mallet as the precision of laser cutting leaves no room for error or warping of even the smallest piece of wood during transit. The puzzle was good but one piece on the tree side was wrong. I contacted Wood Trick and they sent me the correct part. I also bought a pendulum clock and the gears were removed after a week of use. I have contacted Wood Trick many times and they have not replied to any of my emails (the only way to contact them). I am very disappointed and will not be buying their products again.
