Bought these shoes for my 9 year old grandson. He likes her. He wears them on hikes, to school, rides his bike, walks his dogs, and plays in the mud/mud/grass/small muddy places. If they are heavily soiled, they can be dry brushed. (He doesn't usually clean because the dirt doesn't bother him, but his mother does.) I spoke to Merrell to find out how long the shoes were (I've worn them A LOT!) and was told to report them as defective, which I did. There was a bit of back and forth but they agreed to replace the shoes and will send me a replacement once I send them a photo proving I have made the shoes unwearable. My sons tear their shoes like crazy. Especially now that even the traditionally "reliable" and "high quality" shoe companies (I'm looking at you, Nike and Adidas!) are producing crap shoes, especially for kids. My boys can easily destroy a pair of Nikes in a week.
