I'm sorry for the other reviewers whose bowls arrived broken. Mine arrived safe and sound so let me give a true review. I love this bowl. The ceramic is well polished and has a decent weight. I am currently using a pack of Tabac soap, which is a large pack (3 inches) and fits almost perfectly. In fact, I needed a new shaving mug because Van der Hagen didn't match my Tabac soap. I have a photo of the two side by side and you can see that the craft bowl is larger in diameter than a regular mug at the widest point. The grip and the shape in the hand feels good. It's also deep enough to hit a good froth without spilling. Finally, I appreciate that it's different from most shaving bowls - it looks really nice on the countertop next to my shaving set.
