I missed the different apps that Sphero originally had that made it as good as it was. Most of their functionality lives on in Sphero play, but the games like Chromo are lost forever.

Pros
  • Can be used by kids of all ages, making it a great choice for siblings and friends to play together
Cons
  • May require additional parental supervision during use

Neat little thing good for me

Kid Christmas present. They have these at her school and she wanted one for home. It's super cute and works well. Seems durable too.

Pros
  • Encourages teamwork and collaboration, as kids work together to create and play with their robot balls
Cons
  • Limited battery life may cause interruptions during play

Easy to setup & fun to control

Purchased this little guy for my 9 year old daughters birthday. She loves it. It was fast and easy to set up & controls great. The app was available on ios & works just fine. There's multiple ways to control, and all have been simple to use. If there's any issue we just simply recalibrate it and it's good to go.

Pros
  • Provides hours of fun and entertainment for kids, whether they're playing games or exploring programming functions
Cons
  • Easily overtaken by stronger electromagnetic signals (e.g. cell phones, WiFi) in the vicinity

Love this little guy!

I have other Sphero products; however, I was curious about the Mini. I wanted to assess it for classroom use--to bring technology and fun into my high school classroom. So, I purchase the Green Sphere Mini as a test unit to explore its potential. I wasn't disappointed! Set-up was easy and problem free. I knew in advance that I'd need to charge it before trying any of its features. Once it was charged, the fun began. There are two apps that work with this device: 1) "Sphero Play," which allows…

Pros
  • Comes with a range of accessories that help kids to personalize their ball and create unique designs
Cons
  • Requires time to learn how to properly use and navigate the app

Oh God, just buy it

Hi I'm Scott and I'm addicted to Sphero. (Hi, Scott) I've had the Ollie's and both balls. Could have worded that better. Anyhoo, once I saw this announced I knew I was helpless. Once charged I stopped twitching and went to it. Pairing went smoothly and within seconds I was tearing around the carpet. It is very responsive and pretty quick, even on low pile carpet. Where this comes up short are the games. No golf but instead a series of essentially demo games. The potential is there and buying it

Pros
  • Is a great way for parents to engage with their kids and share the joy of learning and discovery
Cons
  • Limited customization options within programming

Great introduction to robotics

Sphero Mini is an excellent product to introduce kids to robotics. You have several ways to interact with it on your mobile app.Price/Value is also great. I'll be looking forward to get the Sphero Bolt to keep teaching my kids and explore the possibility of developing a career as STEM teacher. Great work!

Pros
  • Helps kids to develop critical thinking skills, as they learn to analyze data and make decisions based on their findings
Cons
  • Limited instructions may create confusion during use

It’s smaller than your hand

I don’t like that’s it very very small but it is a great gift for little kids over 7 and it’s also a fun little robot that kids will definitely enjoy!

Pros
  • Is small and lightweight, making it easy for kids to carry and transport their robot balls with them wherever they go
Cons
  • May require additional purchases to fully utilize features of the app

Works great - my new review

My 9 year old loved this for about 2 weeks and maybe he'll pick it up again later after he gets tired of his other Christmas gifts but it was a pretty good 2 weeks. He spent enough time "programming" the sphero that I think it was probably money well spent.

Pros
  • Is a great way for kids to build confidence and self-esteem, as they master new skills and achieve their programming goals
Cons
  • Not designed for group play or collaboration

More that I expected. Buy it! ITS THE BEST FOR CODING

Purchased to learn block coding with my 9 year old daughter. She said it was "COOL" It's perfect for all ages. The Sphero App has super basic block coding that my 3 year old loves. The Sphero EDU App has Java Block Coding that's advanced enough for anyone including your kids to be entertained for hours as they learn how to build more advanced code. And for the adults it allows you to code in just Java. It also has several rc controller options and 3 games that your kids will want to challenge…

Pros
  • Brother teases his new puppy with it
Cons
  • The app required for use may not be compatible with all devices

Seemed fun.until.: my feedback

I got this to play with the cats. Seemed like a good idea at the time. However, it kept losing it's bluetooth connection. The only way to get it connected again was to plug it in to charge. It would work for a few minutes and lose connection again. Perhaps mine is defective, but who knows.

Pros
  • LITTLE ROBOT, LOTTA FUN: Sphero Mini packs a ton of fun into a tiny programmable robot the size of a ping pong ball. Equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, and colorful LED lights, this educational robot is more than a mini robot toy. Sphero Mini is the perfect entry into robotics for beginners!
Cons
  • Not waterproof or water-resistant

Kids love the miniSphero

as written by the 10 year old who uses Sphero mini:Sphero mini is an evolutionary device for the whole family. The perfect size makes it easily transportable for on the go fun! From the fun of building courses and playing "hide and seek” possibilities are endless. It’s not only a toy but it’s a game! I love the different ways you can control it; tilt, slingshot, face drive, and much more! I have an original Sphere, too. this one is similar, but a whole lot different. Mini seems faster and…

Pros
  • Provides an excellent way for kids to learn about the natural world, as they experiment with movements and behaviors that mimic real-life creatures and organisms
Cons
  • May become quickly outdated as technology advances

Who would have known.

I needed an adult grab bag Christmas gift. I was at a loss when this item caught my eye. I purchased it but shortly after had buyer's remorse. Just because I would get a kick out of something like this doesn't mean a real adult would. Not to worry! The person receiving the gift was fascinated with it. It was easy to program and play with wight out of the box. I guess everyone likes to get a toy at Christmas.

Pros
  • Encourages creativity and innovation, as kids are encouraged to experiment with different programming techniques and movements
Cons
  • Toy may become too predictable for repeat use

Teacher & STEM: my feedback

First off, I teach middle schoolers and it is very difficult to get them excited about pretty much anything. I recently found out about the Sphero mini on a field trip to our local STEM center. One of the stations was to work with the Sphero mini and the Sphero Edu app which allows students to use coding to make the ball move and perform different "tricks”. My students and I were so intrigued by this new gadget that I decided to go ahead and buy one to see more of what it could do. Although I…

Pros
  • INSPIRING THE CREATORS OF TOMORROW: With our undeniably cool fleet of programmable robots and educational STEAM tools, we're inspiring a new generation of inventors and changemakers through hands-on applied learning of coding, science, music and the arts.
Cons
  • Toy may be too fragile and prone to breaking during use

Amuses pets, kids, and adults.

Its sort of a silly little robot. It could have more features or stronger motors, but can't beat the price. Its great with kids and even older adults. It amuses them and they aren't sure what to make of it at first. I also used it to play with my dogs. They were scared of it at first and had fun running around playing tag with it. But unfortunately they lost their fear and became a little too aggressive with it, so I dont plan to play with them and it in the future. Maybe a bigger Sphero and a…

Pros
  • Provides an excellent hands-on learning experience for children who are interested in coding and robotics
Cons
  • Not ideal for outdoor use due to small size

Me and my 5 year are having fun

So far this is a good product me and my 5 year old use this about every 7 days with only charging once. We have a lot of fun. May require frequent app updates for continued use!

Pros
  • Comes with clear instructions and guidance, so kids can get started learning and programming right away
Cons
  • May require frequent app updates for continued use
