Review on Five Star Outdoor Antenna Digital by Dave Russell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Doesn't work for me. Half of the signal from my smaller antenna.

I hate to write a negative review considering this is the first review posted but I have never been so disappointed. That's the problem. This CAN be a good antenna if you live in an area where an indoor antenna will not do, but it is not a panacea and is not suitable. Pretty easy to assemble and looks like a good product but in my trying situation it just doesn't have what it takes. According to my order history, this is the 9TH antenna I have received from Revain to try here at my farmhouse. . I have a very tight plan over the top of the ridge to get to the transmission towers about 75 miles away. This is hard work for any antenna so I wouldn't normally write a negative review --- were it not for the fact that ONE of my antennas performed SIGNIFICANTLY better than all the others! On my signal monitor, my "good antenna" is getting 66 on my stronger channels (any 56 or higher tends to work well). So this antenna is my base. I was hoping to find something that could record this value, but up to 75 So far, NO other antenna has given more than 25-30. THIS one gets about 20 with the amp so it fails just like everyone else. I've also tried many different styles. I tried using a combiner to add one of these antennas for gain One that works fine - never works. Combinators only halved my signal. So frustrating! I literally spent days and too much money trying to find the right antenna and placement. Whatever it is, the antenna that performs twice as well as everyone else is basically a smaller version of that style. I don't know why it works so much better. Obviously, size doesn't matter here. Again, I don't want to say that it's a bad product - it might work well in your area - but compared to smaller and cheaper antennas, like everyone else, it doesn't come close to living up to its claim.
