Doesn't work very well

Nothing says "gentle loving hands at home" (cheap) like a shiny ribbon on a smooth matte finished awning. After cleaning, the tape does not hold well, so the tears are not sewn up. The second attempt is to mask off the lower part that is not weathered with masking tape. Holds up better, but still not good enough. I'll be experimenting with products like Shoe Goo and silicone products with a non-shiny finish to seal the cracks on the top with tape on the bottom to maybe seal the cracks better.
