They are very light, ideal for the summer heat and wick sweat. There's a lot of padding - some reviews have people complaining about buckets etc but that's what all padded bib shorts are like and they're pretty standard in that regard. If you hate that, I think you can buy less padded shorts. As for size, they fit me in a larger size, but they have a drawstring so you can tighten them. Oh I loved the zip pockets. I can put keys, phones, etc. in it and don't have to worry about them falling out. My others don't have a clasp. I might buy a few more pairs and get rid of the old ones.
