They give off a nice bright light that matches the 60w incandescent bulbs which they have replaced with "incandescent like colour". 4 stars because they don't dim to no light output like a lightbulb. However, they fade a bit, so they can be used in most applications. Even if the dimming control is set to low light output, these lamps will not light when first turned on until the dimming control is increased. However, once they are lit, the dimming control can be turned back to low and they will glow at reduced brightness. They just don't run at low brightness [because they don't run at all]. In addition, a subtle weeping [or high-pitched buzz] can be heard when darkened. I have about ten of them in lights above my kitchen [about 10 feet high] and I can barely hear them - if it was just a light it might not be noticeable. When the dimming control is set to 100%, these lamps are silent. They stay amazingly cool. I am very happy with these lights.
