Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Enhanced Canon PIXMA G4210 Wireless MegaTank All-in-One Inkjet Printer by Cashout Harden

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Owned for almost two years. Suitable for daily printing needs, BUT

Canon g4210 Update 03/20/2020. I finally managed to get this printer working again within a month of the last update. Since it's still working I'm posting this as an update. Now I have about 1500 prints and about half the ink left. I'm not sure if all or just some of these steps were necessary. Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Canon g4210 > (right click to select printer icon) Printing Preferences > Maintenance (I've provided a screenshot of the settings). For some reason the paper pickup and feed had issues, although I couldn't see anything along the way. It seems to solve this problem. I don't know how it started. Also, the print was misaligned. The imprint was very similar to the distortion a person with macular degeneration would see. Alignment fixed it. A clogged nozzle required multiple ink washes. FIRST I tried less intensive ink cleaning options. A lot of ink was used when flushing the ink! I'm sure I'll get an ink waste pad error soon and it probably won't be a replacement part. That works first. I print regularly. For those who don't, I highly recommend printing a nozzle check at least once a week. If I can use the printer with the original ink that came with it (two black and one of each color) then I consider it very good. Value. If you need to buy refills later to keep using it, it's excellent value for money. Flushing the ink will probably limit its lifespan for me.****10/01/2019?After less than 18 months and a total of 1200 sheets I am now getting a jam error. There is nothing in the paper path. Each of these pages proved very expensive to print. I only used about 1/4 of the ink bottles. I have two bottles of ink left. I want companies to take responsibility and stop producing garbage that ends up in landfills with minimal consumption. This will be a HEAVY weight in my mind before I EVER buy another Canon product. The thought of not changing the ink is tempting, but I would never have to. This product is not even designed to use one set of cartridges, maybe two. In this case, however, you save ink. To save our landfills, parts such as printheads and waste ink pads must be inexpensive and easily replaceable by the consumer. It's still a problem. I have had this printer since May 2018 and there have been many printers over the past thirty years. Benefits: β€’ The printer comes with a manual with a QR code to watch a printer setup video on your smartphone or tablet. I recommend a tablet for more comfortable viewing. β€’ Instructions also include a link to a website to download software for installation (may need to use Airprint for Mac) β€’ No need to replace expensive ink cartridges β€’ Printheads are user replaceable (parts price and availability unknown) β€’ Compatible with MacOS and Windows (I have both) β€’ Built-in support for Air Print. You can print directly from a compatible iOS device. No drivers required.β€’ The phone line is used for printing, scanning, copying and faxing.β€’ Ink levels are easy to see.β€’ I can scan and print photos and documents with the Canon Print app for iOS. With WLAN, the resolution is limited to 300 dpi. Works great for documents, but I prefer to scan photos at 600 dpi. Other applications are available for adding messages or creating projects (postcards, calendars, collages, posters, etc.) β€’ You can print borderless photos on Mac and Windows computers. Tip: choose photo paper. Under Size, select Borderless. Neutral: β€’ Dye-based color ink β€’ Pigment-based black ink β€’ Rear paper tray Printheads clog less with dye than with pigment inks. In general, dye-based inks are not waterproof and colors may not be as vivid. However, I was impressed with the printed photos. Pigmented inks are more water resistant and deliver sharper, more vibrant colors. The rear paper tray worked fine for me. No paper jam. Easy to reach. Manual duplex printing was an option for me. Cons: β€’ The LCD screen is small and not as user friendly as the color touch screen. I recommend using the web menu for settings. β€’ Automatic two-sided printing is not possible (the design of the back does not allow the use of the optional duplex unit) β€’ No Ethernet connection β€’ This printer is not suitable for Image Garden Premium content (this is only available for printers, you need expensive cartridges buy) Overall Canon g4210 good printer. It would have been a 5-star printer if Canon hadn't skimped on the corners by adding a memory slot, duplex printing (or at least as an optional accessory), a color LCD touchscreen, and Image Garden's premium content resolution. Over the course of your expected lifetime (probably two or three sets of ink if you don't need to flush ink before getting an ink pad full message), you'll likely save on ink costs. However, an ink pad waste overflow error will cause the printing to fail. Often this ink pad cannot be replaced by the user and the user cannot remove the error message. I will upgrade this rating to 5 stars later when I can replace this pad and fix the waste ink pad bug and replace the printheads later if needed. to be more durable, but I recommend a dedicated photo printer like the Canon Selphy CP 1300 sold by Revain (I have an older model, the CP 900) or have the photos printed in a darkroom for archival purposes (remember that dye-based color inks do not fade). or waterproof). For everyday color printing, consider a color laser printer. Toner is expensive, but you don't have the same problems with clogging, ink smearing, etc. They're generally more reliable. It works to print photos for postcards, documents, etc. The advantage of a laser printer is that you can use a technique called card foil to create beautiful postcards! However, this isn't the kind of printer I want to use to print photos for an album.

Pros
  • Inkjet ink
Cons
  • Without automatic printer
