These Turkish fouta towels are the only towels we use now. I first used fouta towels a few years ago and am a newbie. They don't look at all like traditional American terry towels, but they dry great after a shower or a swim in the pool and take up almost no closet space. They also dry very quickly and thus save energy. These towels are thin, woven towels. Although the size is very generous. They are made from 100% cotton and look like American kitchen towels. What you need to know is that they need to be washed 5-6 times for maximum absorbency and do not use fabric softeners or dryer sheets. Incidentally, fabric softener and dryer sheets reduce the absorbency of all types of towels. Instead, I use dryer balls, which keep towels nice and soft. They seem a bit strange at first, but we like them. They are much larger than bath towels and absorb moisture well. They look amazing with twisted fringes at both ends and woven stripes. But what I really like is that I can fit 12 things I bought in such a small space in the linen closet. They are ideal for people with limited storage space. I had a house fire earlier this year and lost all my towels. Replaced them with a dozen of these and everyone is happy.
