It is very embarrassing to read the reviews for this rash guard. half the people seem to say it's too much; half say it runs small. I ordered one and sent it back. Here's my take on women's shirt sizes, I always wear the small. So I ordered a small one in this rashguard. In my opinion this top fits true to size but with a "BUT". "Fits exactly" means for me in this case that the distance between the neck and shoulders is correct and the length is correct. The armpit number was also correct. If I had ordered more or less than my normal size this shirt would definitely not fit as either the length or the armholes or the shoulders would be wrong. The problem for me was that the sleeves were just too big for moderate swimming. *for* *swimming* is key. The description says "loose cut" which is what I was expecting, but somehow I figured the sleeves were still "tacky" enough not to dangle while swimming. WHAT I LEARNED: You can classify this as "too big" or "too small" depending on the *activities* you plan to do while wearing it. swim: no I do not buy. The arms are just too loose and flexible. but the size is not "big" in my opinion. The shirt is true to size, but only has wide sleeves.
