My knife broke in less than a year!

I really liked this knife (past tense). It sharpened well, was big and I used it every day. Until recently. Today I just cut the cauliflower and all 2 inches of the tip broke off into the cauliflower. I don't use this knife hard, just a home cook and I never put it in the dishwasher. How could a knife break like that? easy? I have no way of contacting the company so I was hoping this post would help. A good company will send me a new one immediately.
