Our 2.5 year old medium brown leather belt developed two very noticeable nickel sized yellow spots where the outer coating had come off, a common problem with bonded leather. It was on the back of one of the chairs where a man's head could rest. I bought this kit to see if it would hide those ugly stains.1. Remove any loose material around the stain, then clean with the cleaning solution provided.2. Close the outer edges around the stains with a matte clear coat (Rust-Oleum or similar) applied with a cotton swab. This will seal the edges around the repair and hopefully prevent future chipping and chipping. Apply 3 coats of clear coat and allow to dry between coats. This is an important step!3. The color matches the dye. Contains 3 different shades of brown + a bottle of white and black paint to fine-tune the shade. This was the hardest part and required experimenting with different dye combinations until a similar color was achieved. I like the combination of dark + medium + black. I used the area under the chair's footrest to check the color match. Use a low power hair dryer or heat gun to speed up the drying time.4. After choosing the color, apply 3 coats of paint and let it dry between coats.5. After paint has dried coat repaired area with Moneyworths Leather Quick Shine or similar, apply 2-3 thin coats, excess spray will not harm surrounding area.
