My son uses Billy shoes with his AFO/SMO. The laces that come with issues are really not long enough. His teachers kept saying his shoes were coming untied, but because the laces were so short, it was impossible to make them stay tied. I just put these on, and wow! I had to mess with them a little bit to get them just right, but I think that these are going to be awesome. The clip that goes inside the shoe where the laces end seems like it is a little bit bulky, but my son wears a toddler size 8, and on an adult size shoe (or even larger kids sizes) it probably would not be as "bulky."My advice for getting the right tightness is this: lace them loosely, put the shoes on your feet, and then tighten to the desired tightness. Use a permanent marker or something to make a little mark where you want the laces to stop on the inside of the shoe, then take the shoe off and put the clip on. Try the shoes on and walk around a little bit before cutting the lace. You are able to pull them a little tighter while the clip is on as well to adjust, but it's a bit more difficult to make them looser with the clips still on.
