Quality control issues

The specs on the mouse itself are fantastic on paper including: - lots of customization options for the RGB lighting via Synapse - excellent tracking with the optical sensor and fewer double clicks when using the new Razer Optical Switch - wireless with rechargeable battery that can be charged with the included charging station - 100 hours of battery life (with lights off) - adjustable scroll wheel resistance When the mouse arrived I was happy to use it the way I did wanted it shape and declared properties. Shortly thereafter, I noticed that the mouse became very loud when used on the Logitech G240 mouse pad. The rattling noise was very annoying and I didn't think I could live with it. I did a little research and found that other users have reported similar issues with their Razer Basilisk and Viper Ultimate rattling caused by loose side switches, the scroll wheel, and the sensor itself. It's very disappointing that a $170 mouse has such quality control issues, especially when I have a Logitech G900 which I've been using for over 2 years and hasn't had any loose shifting or rattling issues which also means being more robust seems . I returned the Basilisk Ultimate and bought a Logitech G502 Lightspeed which is also shaped like the previous one, has no rattle issues and has better build quality. It's entirely possible that the Basilisk Ultimate I received was a defective unit, but I didn't want to risk getting a replacement that might have the same problem. TL; DR1) Basilisk Ultimate performed brilliantly on paper2) My module was making an annoying rumble. Noise on the mouse pad with normal use, so it was brought back. 3) The Logitech G502 Lightspeed which I later bought does not have the mentioned problem and has a better build quality than the Basilisk Ultimate

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Skimpy manual
