Loved the watch hate the customer service

I bought this watch for my wife on January 31, 2014. I really liked the watch, it shows the exact time, feels nice, the black dial is a refreshing change from a regular braille watch. Well, that satisfaction was short-lived. After just 11 months, the pins in the hole that fit into the holes in the case to keep it closed have etched a line into the case as it opens and closes, eventually corroding it to the point where it won't close anymore remains time. . We have a local watch shop that has a lot of experience with braille watches, we brought it to them, they said you see it in Seiko braille watches a lot. This is because the case material (stainless steel I believe) is much softer than the pin material (braille seems to be it), this problem is inevitable with all Seiko braille watches. They said send it to Seiko, they should fix it under warranty as it's a design flaw. RIGGGGHT! So we send it to Seiko with a full explanation, they come back with a repair bill almost the price of a new one. I made my case, they were bored of me like "do you want your watch back or not?", I got them to lower their labor costs which made them as low as it was possible. And we had to pay shipping both ways. NO US SEIKO PRODUCTS. Now compare that to two other customer service cases we've had within a month of this case, Harmon audio systems and Diamondback trainers. star service! In the case of Harmon we had a defective unit under warranty (as do Seiko watches), they went out of their way to make it easy, sent me a UPS shipping label and expedited the replacement, no problem. This is also the case with Diamondback. Did I say NO MORE SEIKO PRODUCTS FOR US? Yes I think I have. Before anyone else points it out, most braille clocks do. I know we've had others, but only after they were torn and worn out anyway and didn't owe us anything.
