Not at all suitable for a 55 " TV
This mount will fit a 40" or smaller TV that weighs less than 50 pounds. We used this mount to mount a 55-inch LCD TV that weighed 35 pounds. The mount is too narrow for the TV and we had to bend the hardware to make it fit. The metal attached to the wall is not very heavy and bends easily if not secured with rivets at each end. Make sure you mount your TV exactly where you want it because once the bracket is in place there is little left-right adjustment. Updated on 07/10/2019. The manufacturer contacted and replaced the product. I am very happy with the replacement.
