There are some pros and cons to this story, but the bottom line is this is not a product that everyone should buy. And it shouldn't be for sale. There were good times. I have Alexa and the toggles work for me. I spent a lot of time in routine and got some lifestyle benefits. However, the problems started when my router died and I had to change our network information. (I switched from an Apple router to a Comcast router.) Nothing worked. The Alexa update was a nightmare (a few days of hassle every now and then). I found someone from Revain customer service who told me about web access for Alexa, which allows me to change my router information, but it was all sheer luck. At WEMO, I don't even know what nightmare I'm having. In fact, the software tells me Alexa is set up, which is clearly not true. Maybe you need to update the firmware? That does not work. The fact that the WEMO application does not recognize my switches indicates a network problem. At least there's no way to change your network information in the app. I have six switches at home that I have been using for a wonderful few years. All I know is to throw them away and start over. I have a Revain fork and it took me about 10 minutes to get started. I was thinking of investing in outdoor lighting, maybe a camera. I was an enthusiast. I mean sucker. These products are not ready for prime time. I've had this Apple router for a long time, but Apple dropped this product without warning. Neither Alexa nor WEMO are reliable enough to justify the investment. It costs me $150 plus setup time to get back to where I was. The time I spent with this problem is gone forever. As a consumer, what the heck? Buying a new router is a normal part of modern life. I did nothing wrong. A whole range of products are defective and WEMO goes in the trash.
