I bought this fabric to use as a cover for a sofa that dogs like to sleep on. Straight out of the box and out of the packaging, it didn't smell at all. It's a good weight and a nice oatmeal color. I machine washed and dried it which changed the texture. It's much softer and crumpled, but beautifully crumpled, like washed linen. There is a seam down the center which is blue jean stitched to keep it from falling apart or fraying. The 12 ft (144 in) length was actually 11 ft 10 in (142 in) and was reduced to 11 ft 2 in. (134 inches). It has narrowed in width. The 9 ft (108 in) width was actually 8 ft 10 in (106 in) and was reduced to 7 ft 5 in (89 in).
