I love these glass files for thick skin and calluses. They remove thickened skin and make your skin very smooth as if it has been polished. Not like metal files, like sandpaper or cheese graters. Naturally remove the metal thickened skin and calluses. But they leave a torn and even rougher skin surface than before. My heels got so rough with metal rasps that they snagged/ripped on my pantyhose! With them, my skin becomes so smooth, it looks shiny. I like this one because it fits in the palm of my hand and I can press and file as lightly or as hard as I want. If you are not as flexible and need help getting up, a glass file with a handle may be the right choice. I have both types. i like them both If you have really thick skin, don't expect to remove it right away. Take out and flatten a bit. It may take several sessions a few days apart to get the desired skin. You will get there. Throw away metal files and sandpaper. These glass files are the way to go! And prepare your summer sandals for your feet. Note: Be careful when storing these glass files. They are made of glass and will break. One of me just fell off the bed and hit the hardwood floor.
