We used it indoors on the lowest setting near the front door and our black lab stopped barking at passers-by on day one. I put it on the max distance setting outside when our neighbor's dog started barking one night and it worked great again. The dog stopped its continuous loud bark and switched to a single low bark to return to the house. THEN we noticed that our dog was acting strangely and wouldn't want to go outside - his tail was tucked and his ears flattened. We found that our neighbor's fan was making a high-pitched, frightening noise that we couldn't hear but that stressed our dog. (Note: it has a red light to indicate a sensor has been triggered, but we didn't look at it.) I highly recommend this product, but make sure to turn it off if you or your neighbor have noisy devices use.
