I've searched long and hard for a powered desktop speaker that will fill the kitchen with sound and retain accurate sonic detail even at higher volumes, and I settled on the Riva Festival. The sound of Riva's Festial was better than I had hoped. The frequency response sounds precise and smooth, without false boomy bass. The speaker cabinet is heavy and sluggish, which contributes to loud and accurate sound reproduction, while the 3-way active driver array makes playback more immersive. Placement is very important and when passive radiators are placed next to a wall the bass gets a bit heavier so I moved my Riva away from the wall a bit. I use Chomecast Audio on 3 other systems and have integrated Riva with no problems. I've only been using this unit for a few hours, but so far the stereo and Riva have kept in sync when playing music. I was playing cool jazz and the horns sounded hoarse and present and it was a pleasure to listen without the ice cutting highs. I've listened to classic hip-hop and rock and was struck by how low the bass response from this speaker was before hitting rock bottom. I haven't had this speaker long enough to comment on its reliability, but the unit is solid, solid and looks well built.
