good and seems fine

Firstly it works very well. The range is outstanding. With line of sight I can receive my transmitter on my laptop at 975 yards most of the time and 500 yards all of the time. Of course, entering the receiver solves all connection problems. There is a time lag, but it's not bad. At 1000 yards you can take a shot and have time to turn your head and see your hit (or miss). The camera is not very good. It doesn't have a zoom function, so you have to place it too close to the target. This is a real problem when using it in public places or with steel plate targets. It also has a fairly low resolution. Helpful but not great. You can use the transmitter and receiver with another camera (Ethernet connection type) but you will lose compatibility with Caldwell software if you are not very smart. No, I just use the web browser interface and enter the IP address of the new camera. Caldwell's software isn't great, but it takes photos and videos very well and is easy to use. Higher resolution camera with 5x zoom. I had to change the camera's IP address to match the addressing of the Caldwell device. I use a 50 foot ethernet cable so I can place the camera and transmitter a reasonable distance from the targets. The camera is about 20 meters from the finish line and the transmitter is 50 feet from it. I then use the zoom function to get the view as close as possible. This works very well. You need a power supply to swap out the camera, the camera that comes with the system is powered by the transmitter itself. I installed the transmitter close to the ground, so out of the line of fire, that wasn't a problem, but I have a very good line of sight. I think it's a good deal even if you replace the camera the case will hold everything and the electronics look nice weatherproof. You could certainly put together your own system if you had a knowledge base like this, but for people like me who only have the basic knowledge, this is a great place to start.

Pros
  • Constant test results
Cons
  • You could have chosen a newer model
