Review on ⏰ Sony ICF-C318 Dual Alarm Clock Radio with Automatic Time Set (White) - Discontinued by Manufacturer by Tyrone Lee

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Almost perfect for compact radios and stereo systems

I had problems with this at first because I couldn't figure out how to set the time. (Yes, yes, I know, I know — who doesn't know how to set the time on an electric clock, you ask.) It took me a while, but I finally realized that when setting the date and time, the current Time is actually the third "menu" for the setting, not the second (which came right after setting the date, so I was confused). Of course it shows the exact time. Last week I was amazed when the clock showed the correct time after a short power failure despite the lack of a replaceable backup battery. Nice! The numbers are nice and big, which is what I need. I also like the ability to choose the brightness of the display - low or high. I hold it up most of the time, even at night. The controls for the alarm, radio etc feel solid, are clearly labeled and work well. Everything is fine with the radio. We don't have good radio reception where I live, so I don't rely on such a small radio for entertainment. In fact, I've found that the most effective alarm clock in the world is to tune the clock radio to NO station - somewhere BETWEEN stations that sound like static or distorted things - some really annoying noise - and turn the volume up nice and loud. It sounds so awful when it starts in the morning that I don't want to hear it! All in all a good buy. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there were too many 'timed' menus which was confusing for me.
