First I removed the relatively large and rough stains. I bought these to dry my face after cleansing and the great thing about these towels is how easy they are to clean even without soap. Eye make-up and powder just disappear as soon as I wash them off under the tap. I use a very mild soap to wash it after each use and it dries very quickly. I just wish they were a little bigger - check the sizing before you buy. It's a bit small; 8.5*8.5 inches so it doesn't cover my relatively small face. If you do an oil cleanse this is definitely not what you want to use as it is small and too thin to steam your face. Cools down super fast.
