Great camera, easy to use

I bought this camera to replace my old Powershot SD870IS which I am very happy with. 100 HS exceeded my expectations. After reading a few reviews and looking at pictures taken with this camera on various photo sharing websites, I decided to get involved. I only had it for about a month when I bought it as a gift for my mom. Images are sharp and show great detail, especially in low light. Canon has simplified the controls on the back, so they not only look cleaner but also make it easier to change many settings. The manual mode offers a lot of controls for those who use it and enjoy the story modes. (The miniature effect is my personal favorite.) But where this camera really shines is in auto mode. It really is a great way to take photos when you want. Pros - Great photos Easy to use / change modes Great battery life, I recorded almost 3 weeks on a single charge including a few minutes of HD video. Small enough to fit in a pocket but large enough to be used by large hands (like mine). minuses. A small complaint: the lighter build doesn't feel as solid as the heavier metal body of my 870 IS. All in all a fantastic camera, great for everyone. Update: September 2014 - Two years later, both my camera and my mother's camera are strong, take great pictures and are not in danger of being replaced anytime soon. I bought extra batteries (which I don't really need) and extra memory cards to keep in the bag. The battery life is amazing and the build quality really holds up to regular use. Several thousand photos later, I still love this camera. Update February 2020: I still have this camera and still use it regularly. It now lives in a backpack on my bike and is used regularly, photos are only now that I have a couple of video cameras mounted on the bike and my helmet. Printed up to 16x20 with great results. So far I haven't found any reason to upgrade to a newer version.
