I love my Jason Samuels Smith Tap Tap BLOCH shoes! These fit perfectly! I ordered my pair in black. I wear size 9 street shoes by the standards. I tried 9 1/2 and 10 in JSAMS. 10 had too much room for toes. However, the size 9 1/2 fit the shape. My thumb doesn't stop too far from the end of the toe. So yes, you definitely need to go half a size up. You don't want your tap shoes to be too big. If the shoe fits in all the right places but rubs the toe, you can break the shoe or take it to a shoemaker to have the toe area stretched. The leather is so soft that it doesn't take long for the shoes to break in. The interior feels soft and luxurious on the foot. You will find that this shoe is slightly heavier depending on the weight of your previous oxford shoes. Now when I press, my sounds are out of this world! If you are serious about tap dancing or just want quality tap dancing shoes that will last and sound great, then this is your shoe!
