My son has very thick straight hair. He likes this product because his hair is a bit longer which makes it look nice and doesn't fall over his eyes. I'm a woman and I've used it too. It keeps my bangs in place when they're really wet and want to curl. I just use the smallest piece on my fingertips and stretch it out. It keeps my bangs straight and in place. The scent is a bit masculine, but fresh and light enough not to stand out.
