I've been looking for a shower niche like this for a long time. Many had 4 inch shelves which I felt were too small. I was also concerned about the ABS plastic, its ability to hold 4" x 12" tiles, and what type of adhesive to use. I applied wall and floor grout (the same material I used to put the shower wall tiles on the cement board) and it worked great. I am very happy with the results. This was my first time laying tiles so I was concerned. The only downside to this product is that the back of the liner is a little flimsy. ABS plastic niches. worried that due to the flexibility, squeezing could cause the tile grout to crack. The problem is easy to fix, just place a spacer of the right size (in my case 3/4" plywood (works great) behind the insert so the insert fits perfectly between two columns and has no gaps against the drywall at the opposite wall. That all of these shower alcoves are overpriced for what they are material wise. More than $50 for a piece of plastic seems crazy, but the time saving isn't in building an alcove out of wood ,it won't leak,it's definitely worth the money.I can't express how happy I am with this product and how easy it is to complete a difficult DIY project for the first time.
