I bought this filter after testing it and found that my water was a bit hard. It was a very simple setup. Of course, this will result in your showerhead sitting at a different angle and you may need to fiddle with it a bit or get used to the different water flow. When I first turned on the shower, the filter turned the water a little gray. I would guess that the water pulled out some of the filter's internal particles for the first few minutes of operation, but eventually they disappear (hopefully without using the entire filter filter?). Replacing the filter seems like a very simple process and quite affordable. After testing the water after installing the filter, the water hardness decreased slightly. I definitely recommend trying it out if this is an issue for you.
