The spinners in my dishwasher stopped working and my research showed that this particular part was the culprit. I watched a few youtube videos on the repair/replacement procedure and it seemed pretty easy to me. I bought a part that cost about 1/5 the cost of a new dishwasher. By far the most difficult part of the test was unplugging the dishwasher from the counter. Disconnecting the lines was painful as the wrench's turning radius was severely restricted by the small space that contained the valve. Also, my washing machine is wired directly into the electrical box, so I had the whole twisted wire/junction box situation. Once I unplugged the washing machine, actually installing the pump was relatively trivial. The only thing that differed from the videos on Youtube was the presence of a "notch" guide that made it impossible to install the pump incorrectly. While the pump had this notch, my dishwasher didn't. This allowed me to install the pump in any orientation in the housing. I found this very odd, but after visually inspecting the mechanism, I quickly figured out how to position the pump. I also found that one of the o-rings that came with the pump was too big. I recycled the o-ring from an old pump. I would recommend keeping those old o-rings as in all likelihood they are fine and you will likely need them. When I reinstalled the dishwasher I ran it through a cycle and it worked. . In fact, I'm pretty sure the old pump has been failing for a while, so the dishwasher sounded like it was working better than ever.
