Three stars because it was the cutest fire umbrella we could find. I bought it thinking it would be very kid friendly as I noticed the big little round balls that keep the eyes from stinging. Hence two star deduction for the pinching - I was pinched and then my son was pinched. As an adult, I still struggle a bit with pacing. I would love to give him the independence to run it as that is part of the excitement of having an umbrella when you are 3 years old but looks like I won't be able to . This was a disappointment as it was a long awaited prize. To be honest, if it wasn't a little awkward to return, I probably would and look for one that's a little safer for kids. I don't remember that we had this problem with our funny ladybug umbrella. If your child is a bit older, just warning them not to pinch themselves may be enough.
