Can't beat the softness, but I wear a size 7 and the 7/8 was so large on me that I almost slipped and fell just trying to walk across the room. They are so feathery soft inside that your foot slips around. The crisscross band is so loose, that there was not enough support to keep them safely on my feet. I am afraid that a 5/6 would be too short, so unfortunately I will have to return them. I am a healthy, stable, 72 year old, but I don't want to fall and injure myself.
