I have a 7 lb Yorkie. I ordered one size smaller. Fits perfectly and I love it! More importantly, the pooch loves it! I was a bit reluctant to get anything beyond his head. He hates having his face touched. I have a coat for him, but I always buy the ones that only have velcro around the neck and body for that reason. This sweater is awesome, super stretchy. Shot over the head, no problem! Legs and paws in the openings are no problem either! These little guys don't like the cold, and I don't get that hot when I'm not at home just because of the dog. Ideal for indoors and outdoors on cold days, this sweater offers better coverage than a light coat. I was glad that when I put it on, it covered his whole back, but I have to remember that it opens up a little when I walk, and it shouldn't be too long, otherwise the buttocks will also be too long and will be annoying. They do business there. Just got this sweater today, put it on straight away, out into the yard, and now he's sleeping inside. He doesn't even seem to know it's there, but it keeps him warm and cozy. Special Note: My dog has skin allergies and doesn't seem to bother him at all. No scratches etc. Gladly take if you are looking for a sweater, especially for little guys! If you have a small breed in particular, don't think that their coat alone will keep them warm. My little friend is shaking outside in 60 degree weather. love love love!
