Review on Gemini XGA 3000 Professional Equipment Amplifier by Derrick Shaw

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Competent cheap amplifier

Quality amplifier that works. I love mine and happily bought another one a few years later. As usual, the rated peak power output is completely different from the actual one, so read the specs to see what it's capable of in your application. I found that a single XGA-3000 could easily push my pair of Peavey PR-15 speakers well beyond what I would ever need in a typical mid-size room. Advantages: - Many connection options for line-in and speaker-out. - reliability. terminals. - Good value for money ($150-$190 in recent years). Cons: - Volume switches feel cheap. Every time I touch it I feel like I have to be careful. The resistance on the volume switches can vary, and it's a lot less than we'd like. Even a dust brush is enough to move them. You can accidentally rub one of them and twist it. - Loud fans in the latest version. - The device is too high to be placed next to other devices. Version 1 of this product had some screws sticking out from the bottom. Version 2 removes these screws but increases face height by approximately 2mm. In both versions, this is enough to make a flush mount of all your devices impossible. This is very frustrating and increases the hassle for those with small closet shelves or tote bags. Since I last bought this product around 2010 there have been some small changes which I understand but somewhat disapprove of: - The front panel color has changed from dark gray to black - The size of the volume control has been increased significantly - The option has been changed removed RCA input

Pros
